Sparkle N Sprinkle June Challenge

Hi Everyone! I hope you are enjoying your day. It is time for another Sparkle N Sprinkle challenge! This month it is a sketch. You can see it when you scroll down. I had fun using a new stamp set called Garden Goddess. The sentiment is from another new set called Spring Florals. I stamped the image on silver mirror card stock and paper pieced it on the image so it would look like a metal watering can. It is hard to see on the full card so I showed a close up of the image. I pop dotted the bird, then I used a Wobble to adhere the image onto the card and now it has movement too! I glittered the pink flowers on the patterned paper and the ones in the can to give the card some shimmer. The glitters used were Lemonade and Bubblegum.

Technique Tuesday -- "Painting With Glitter"

Hi Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful and safe Memorial Day holiday! I am back with another technique at Sparkle N Sprinkle that I call "Painting With Glitter." I was trying to achieve a blended look with the glitters by using a glue pen to paint on the various colors of glitter.

Supplies needed:

1. Sakura Glue Pen
2. glitters
3. Versa Mark ink pad
4. tulips stamp
5. white card stock
6. Black embossing powder

Stamp the tulips on white card stock using Versa Mark clear ink.

Add black embossing powder and heat with a heat tool.

Color the stems and leaves with copic markers. Color in some areas of a tulip with the glue pen. You can see a little blue where the glue is on the far right tulip.

Sprinkle on the first color of glitter.  Here I used Frosted Carmine velvet glitter.

Now color in the rest of the tulip with the glue and add the second color of glitter. I used Purple Potion velvet glitter. You may end up with some white showing through, but you can go back and fill in with the glue pen and add more glitter.

   

Here is the end result.

I think this turned out real pretty, but I wanted a brighter look so I tried another set of tulips with the SNS regular glitters. On this piece I used Lemonade, Autumn Medley, Pretty Princess and Impulsive Purple glitters. This is the piece I used on my card above.

Adventure!

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. It is sunny and warm here. I just got back from visiting with my aunt in Pigeon Forge, TN. It is so beautiful there in the mountains. I always love going there. My aunt and I were talking about some things we would like to do and she said she had always wanted to go on a zip line and this is was on her bucket list to do! This is coming from an 83 year old woman! So she dragged me along and we did it! Here is the picture to prove it! I must confess she did better than I did. I am such a chicken. I am so proud of her. Aren't we cute in our orange helmets?

Technique Tuesday -- Stains and Simmer

Wow! It is Technique Tuesday again at Sparkle N Sprinkle! I hope you are having a good day. Today I want to show you a way to make a shimmery background by using several different shimmery products. They say April showers bring May flowers,  so I made a card with flowers. I hope we keep seeing the sun and more pretty flowers this May! The first part of May was a complete washout here!

Supplies needed:

1. 3 colors of Distress Stains
2. several different shimmer paints -- I used Inka Gold paints,  Acrylic Pearl paints and Metallic Distress stains.
3. embossing folder
4. white card stock

Take the stains and randomly rub them over the card stock.

Place the card stock in an embossing folder and run it through an embossing machine.

On this piece I rubbed the silver metallic Distress Stain over the card to give it shimmer. This look gives a silver sheen with muted colors underneath.

Here is another one I did using the Distress Brass stain over top. You can really see in this picture how the stain rests on top with the colors barely showing underneath.

On these two backgrounds I used the Inka Gold paints. They are like a metallic rub, when used with water they make a paint. These blend in more with the stain colors and are very shiny.

On this last one I used acrylic white Pearl Paint. This is the background I used to make my card.

It was fun trying the different shimmery paints on these backgrounds. Each one gave a different look. I hope you will play with this and come up with some wonderful shimmery backgrounds for your cards. Have a wonderful and blessed day!

Technique Tuesday -- Tissue Paper Background

Hi Everyone! I hope you are enjoying your day. As promised I am showing how I made the background for this card that I showed on the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog hop last week.  I always have so much fun with techniques so again I made several different backgrounds. I just can't stop at one! LOL!

Supplies needed:

1. white  or light colored tissue paper
2. Distress stains in complementary colors
3. white card stock
4. Brushable glue
5. water
6. pan for water
7. foam brush
8. glitter  --  I used Goldenrod Velvet glitter

Squeeze some glue onto the card stock, dip the foam brush in water and brush the glue across the card stock.

Wad up the tissue paper, open it up some and lay it down on the glue. Let this dry.

Trim off  edges with scissors.

Start swiping the stains over the tissue paper.

Swipe  some of the raised areas lightly with the diluted glue using the foam brush and add glitter.

This is so easy and fun. Here are some more backgrounds I made. On this first one I went lightly over the stained background with the silver Distress stain to give it a different shimmery look.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi Everyone! For those of  you  who are mothers I want to wish you a very special day. My mother has passed away and is in heaven with her Lord and my dad. I made this pocket card out of a brown paper lunch bag for my mother-in-law. My good friend, Marie, taught us how to make this at our local stamp club a couple of months ago. I really like this a lot and plan to make some more. Here is the card and views of the pockets. We will be putting gift cards and money in the pockets.

At The Beach Blog Hop

Hi Everyone and welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle At The Beach Blog Hop! The rain seems to be leaving us after several days of a deluge and the temps are warming up too! The girl is from the Whimsical stamp set. I used Ice Sea Glass and Mini Shell Mudd Puddles at the bottom of my card. I added Champagne glitter to the Mudd Puddles and shells to give sparkle!

Technique Tuesday -- Stencils and Embossing Powders

Hi Everyone and Happy Mother's Day! If you are a mother I hope your day is very special.  Today I made a Mother's Day card for the Sparkle N Sprinkle Technique Tuesday, using a fun technique for the background. I don't think you will stop at one! 

Supplies needed:

1. white or cream card stock
2. stencils brass or plastic -- I used plastic
3. ink sprays
4. Versa Mark ink pad
5. sponge
6. glittery embossing powders
7. water spritzer
8. paper towel
9. embossing buddy
10. heat tool

Spray your card stock with several colors.

Spritz some water over the colors to blend a little more.

Blot card stock with a paper towel, lay a stencil over the card stock and spray a color over the stencil. I used a white pearl on this one to give a subtle look.

Continue to lay stencils over the card stock and spray different colors, some dark and some light.

Now use the embossing buddy to swipe over the card stock. This will keep the embossing powder from sticking where you do not want it!

Now lay a stencil over your background and sponge Versa Mark ink over the openings of the stencil.

Add embossing powder and heat with a heat tool.

Keep doing this as much or as little as you want. Now you have a neat and shimmery background.
