Sparkle N Sprinkle September Challenge

Hi Everyone! It is time for another Sparkle N Sprinkle challenge. I had fun making my flip card with this cute owl set!

In addition to the new Challenge at the Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenges Blog this month, we have a special treat. But first, we'd like to invite you to the Challenge which is Anything Goes with Glitter, Embossing Powder and/or Flocking. There will be three winners each month, and badges, too!

Today Sparkle N Sprinkle is releasing a cute little owlette set created by artist Becky Muir. For a chance to win the Owlette stamp set and an embossing powder and a glitter, we are kicking things off with a Mystery Designer Party!
On one of the participating blogs below, a Commenter will be selected to receive the prize. No one knows who the Mystery Designer is, so you may wish to visit each Sparkle Team Member's blog to leave a comment. The winner will be announced on September 3 on Facebook, the SNS blog, and on our blogs:

Technique Tuesday -- Building a scene using embossed resist

Hi and welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Technique Tuesday! My technique today is a mouthful, but the title describes it perfectly. Here is the card I made with the technique. I hope you will join me and make a scene of your own!

Supplies needed:
  1. white card stock
  2. clear embossing powder -- I used Sparkle EP107
  3. about 3 colors of ink -- I used yellow, aqua and light green
  4. ink colors to stamp with -- I used blue, green and purple
  5. black ink for edging
  6. Versa Mark ink
  7. sponge
  8. paper towel
First stamp the grass using Versa mark ink. Then add the Sparkle embossing powder and heat set.

Start sponging on the colors of ink starting with the lighter colors and going to the darker colors. You can see that the embossed grass is resisting the ink. If needed you can wipe off any ink left on the grass with a paper towel.

Now go back and build your scene using other stamps and ink colors.

To finish the scene, I used a corner rounder punch and sponged black around the edges. I hope you will try making a scene of your own! Not the rowdy kind though! LOL! Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

Technique Tuesday -- Shimmer Spritz

Hi Everyone! Welcome back again to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Technique Tuesday. I hope you had a good weekend and that you are ready to try a new technique. The technique I am showing today I will call Shimmer Spritz. It looks like a shimmery leather.

Supplies needed:
  1. white card stock
  2. shimmer sprays -- I used a blue, magenta and gold
  3. water spritzer
  4. heat tool
First spritz the card stock with water until covered and scrunch up the card stock into a ball.

Now open up the card stock and dry with a heat tool. If you want a more crinkled card stock, repeat the first step.

Now start spraying the shimmer sprays here and there on the card stock. You can heat the card stock once again with the heat tool to speed up drying time.

See how the gold sits in the crevices and adds a great shimmer? Here are a few other backgrounds I made.

I also used some flower dies to cut out flowers from the background to add to THIS card.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have fun with this technique! Have a wonderful day!

Technique Tuesday -- Black Magic

Hi Everyone!
These Tuesdays keep flying by! I am back with another technique for Sparkle N Sprinkle that really makes your cards pop.  Even though it is called Black Magic and it looks great on black card stock, other dark card stocks can be used. I used a dark brown on this card and it did very well.

Supplies needed:
  1. dark card stock
  2. white embossing powder   ( I used White Detail EP298 )
  3. solid background stamp   ( I used Brocade Backgrounds set 398 )
  4. Versa Mark ink pad
  5. colored pencils
  6. heat tool
First stamp the background on the card stock using Versa Mark ink . Add white embossing powder and heat set.

Now start coloring over the embossing powder with the colored pencils,  starting with light colors to dark.

Keep layering on colors until the background is totally colored.

Now you have a beautiful background for your card. How easy is that? I also like the shadow effect it gives.
Thanks so much for taking time to stop by. I hope you enjoy making some backgrounds of your own.

Technique Tuesday -- Liquid Pearls and Cling Wrap

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to Technique Tuesday at Sparkle N Sprinkle. I was in Spain the month of July. It was a fun trip. I am back in the saddle again and ready to show some more techniques each Tuesday! Sparkle N Sprinkle is now carrying Liquid Pearls in so many delightful colors. I decided to show a technique using them for this Tuesday. You can click here to see all the fabulous colors.

Supplies needed:

  1. cling wrap
  2. any color Liquid Pearls -- I used Daffodil
  3. any color dye ink to compiment the Liquid Pearls
  4. sponge
  5. heat tool -- optional
  6. white or cream card stock
  7. craft sheet

Take the bottle of Liquid Pearls and squeeze some onto the craft sheet.

Wad up a piece of cling wrap and pounce it in the paint, then pounce it all over the card stock. You can either let the paint air dry or heat it a little to speed up the drying time. It dries pretty quickly on its own.

The next step is to take your ink pad -- I used green ink -- and sponge ink all over the card stock until it is covered. Take a tissue and rub off any excess ink. That's it! It makes a neat shimmery background.

Here are a few more backgrounds I made using different color combinations. Have fun coming up with your own!

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
