Chickadees and Faux Patina

Hi Everyone! I hope your day has been a good one so far. I would like to show you a card that I made using my favorite Sparkle N Sprinkle stamp -- Chickadees. For my background I used a technique called Faux Patina. I hope you will enjoy trying this technique on one of your cards.

Supplies needed:

  1. embossing folder
  2. embossing powder -- I used Antiquities EP266
  3. Versa Mark ink
  4. embossing machine
  5. heat tool
  6. sponge
  7. 2 light colors of Distress ink and one darker ( I used Bundled Sage, Victorian Velvet and Vintage Photo )
  8. cream card stock

Pat the Bundled Sage ink all over the opened front of the embossing folder. Place the card stock inside the folder and run through the embossing machine.

Now randomly sponge on the Victorian Velvet ink first and then Vintage Photo.

Lightly pat Versa Mark ink over the raised areas and add embossing powder and heat set.

Now you have a beautiful, antiqued background! Enjoy playing! Have a wonderful and blessed day!

Autumn's Loveliest Smile and Technique

Hi Everyone! Thank you so much for dropping by today. I want to show you an Autumn card I made using the "no iron batik" technique.  I have been in a Fall mode lately. I love the colors, smells and crisp air of Fall. This technique is perfect for those leaves stamps you might have for Fall. I used the Sparkle N Sprinkle Swirly Oak and Swirly Maple leaf in stamp set 410.

Supplies needed:
  1. white coffee filter
  2. Versa Mark ink
  3. clear embossing powder --  I used Velvet Sparkle EP437
  4. Distress Stains
  5. Swirly Oak and Swirly Maple Leaf stamps
  6. heat tool
First randomly stamp the leaves onto the coffee filter using Versa mark ink. It will be hard to see where you stamped. It helps to turn the coffee filter as you stamp to get a better even coverage.

Next sprinkle on the embossing powder and heat it with the heat tool.

The reaction of the embossing on the coffee filter makes the images look waxy so there is no need to iron off the powder. Now start pouncing different colors of stains over the coffee filter starting with the lightest to the darkest.

I hope you enjoy making some Fall cards using this technique. Have a wonderful day!

Eat Cake

Hi Everyone! We have a beautiful Fall day here today. We are finally getting a good chill in the air. Hopefully the leaves will start turning more now that we are getting colder weather. I want to share a card I made using this cute House Mouse image. I am always in need of birthday cards so this image is perfect for it. This little mousey sure looks fat and happy! I used a lot of my favorite things on this card, among which are flowers, ribbon, cord, dies and glitter! I sparkled the icing on the cake using Bubblegum glitter, courtesy of Sparkle N Sprinkle. Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope your day is filled with good things!

I had this pink cord that went perfectly with the patterned paper. I made the little rose out of pink felt and added a rhinestone to the center.

Owl Family

Hi Everyone! I hope you are enjoying Fall. I sure am. Since Halloween is right around the corner, I want to share a card I made with this cute little Sparkle N Sprinkle owl family from the Owlette stamp set 511 (not the Adam's Family)! LOL! I wanted to make my card spooky - cute for Halloween. I had a background already made that I loved. I used black glossy card stock and rubbed rust, purple and silver Mica Gloss over it. I just loved the spooky aura it created.  To add some more pizzazz I patted Versa Mark ink over the background and sprinkled on Silver Detail EP257 and Log Cabin EP397 embossing powders and heat set them from underneath so that the embossing powders would not blow off. Peruvian Lily velvet glitter GM2014 was used to highlight the tree and owls. Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day and a lovely Fall!

Other SNS supplies used:
  1. Versa Mark ink
  2. Tear-ific Tape SAT01
  3. Sakura glue pen
  4. Mirror Silver card stock 99569

Double Embossing

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. I want to share a technique and a card I made that was featured in CardMaker magazine, the 2013 techniques issue. Several other designers' cards from the Sparkle N Sprinkle designer team were also featured in this issue. You can click here to see them through the rest of the month of October.

To make the background I inked up the front of the Couture Creations - Passion embossing folder with Versa Mark ink and ran it through my cuttlebug.

I quickly added Candlelight glitter embossing powder to the card and heat set it.

Next I used teal ink and a sponge to apply the color over some of the raised areas and then I applied purple ink.

Here is the finished background. You can really see the sparkle!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have fun trying this sparkly technique. Have a wonderful and blessed day!

Wild Thing

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are having a good day. I want to share a card I made with this cute rubber stamp, courtesy of Sparkle N Sprinkle, along with a quick technique.

I stamped and colored the giraffe using copic markers. I then took a dotted stencil and colored in the dots with a white colored pencil. That's it! A quick way to add interest to a card! Here is a closer view.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope your day is wonderful!

Stained Glass Trees and Cord Technique

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. Fall is my favorite time of year and I would like to share with you  a Fall card I made with the Stained Glass Tree from Sparkle N Sprinkle using the cord technique. I had a lot of fun with this and played with different designs and colors as you will see below.

Supplies needed:
  1. cord
  2. sprays in different colors
  3. cream or white card stock
  4. mat to catch over spray
  5. regular tape
Take the card stock and place the end of the cord somewhere on the back of the card stock and tape down.

Now wrap the cord around the card stock and tape down the other end on the back.

Turn the card stock over and start spraying on the colors one by one. I start with the lighter colors and go to darker.

After the whole card is sprayed, let dry (you can speed the drying time by using a heat tool) and then take one end of the tape off the back and unwind the cord. White areas are left where the cord was, exposing a neat background!

Here are some more backgrounds I experimented with.

I hope you will enjoy trying this technique. There are endless possibilities! Thanks so much for stopping by. I wish you a wonderful day!
