Oldie Goldies

Hi Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Memorial day weekend! I want to show you a card I made using all old items from my stash. I have been stamping for about 21 years so I have a lot of old things to work with. The House Mouse stamp is at least 8-10 years old. I use this stamp a lot for birthdays. I stamped and colored the mouse using my Spectrum Noir markers that I have had for about three years. I stamped him again on some background paper I colored with Twinkling H2Os. Remember those? I have had them forever! I paper pieced the "icing" onto the doughnut with the H2Os paper. I also added Sparkle N Sprinkle Diamond Dust loose glitter to the doughnut to look like sugar. You can see shine of the H20s and the glitter here.

I used the Cheery Lynn Mega Italian Flourish Doily die behind the image. I have had that die about 5 years and the round Spellbinders die I used to cut out the image is about 7 years old. The yellow border was made using a Martha Stewart corner and border punch that I have had about 6 years too.

The silk flowers are about 10 years old. My dear stamping friend and I went to a warehouse store one day and found that they had the silk flower bushes on clearance for 90% off! We loaded up a cart full and divided them between us. I remember sitting watching television and pulling off the flowers for many days! I still have a lot left!

Also the little "glass" beads I used, we purchased at Michaels about 6-7 years ago or more.  They were clear. So we colored them by putting a few drops of alcohol inks in a zip lock bag and shaking the beads around in the inks. I still have plenty of them too!

I used a cuttlebug dotted swiss embossing folder on the patterned paper. Both of which are about 7 years old as are the card stocks I used.

The ribbon is seam binding I purchased 2-3 years ago on a large spool and dyed using my Faded Jeans Distress ink that I have had about 4 years. Even my glue I used to put it all together is about 2 years old.

I had fun making my "oldies" card. It brought back memories of when and how the items were purchased. Maybe this will inspire you to look in your stash to see what old things you have forgotten and can use to seem like new again!

Thanks so much for stopping by and reading my ramblings. Have a great day!

Happy Memorial Day!

Hi and welcome to my blog. Happy Memorial Day weekend! As we go about our many activities this long weekend may we not forget those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to keep our country free. God Bless America and God bless those who are serving our country now.

The blue frame was made by using a punch around the edges. The white frame was cut from the Scallop Quickutz die and the large striped circle was cut  using a Spellbinders die. The label is also a Spellbinders die that was cut from patterned paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day!

Birthday Blessings

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog. I want to share a birthday card I made using a new die I just purchased by Spellbinders called Flourish Trim. I cut the die from pink card stock and added it to both sides of the stamped saying by Our Daily Bread Designs. I made flowers and leaves, using felt, to add as embellishments.

I used a rose embossing folder to add texture to the background and a dotted swiss folder for the background behind the saying.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Altered Dies #10

Hi and welcome to my blog. I trust you are having a good day! I want to share another altered die card I made today. I just love the month of  May because summer is on the way and all the flowers are abloom! I made the flowers for my basket by using snowflake dies!

This is a swing card. Here is the card opened.

I used the snowflakes from Elizabeth Craft's Spiral Circle Pull card since they were the size that I wanted. I cut them from several patterned papers.

I then layered these to make my flowers and added pearls to the centers.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Thinking of You

Hi Everyone and welcome to my blog! I went frilly on my card today. I love shabby chic and frilly but somehow I don't always accomplish that look. It was fun making this frilly card today. I have come to realize that the papers you use really make a difference with the frilly look.

I used several dies on this card. I cut the leaves using the Fresh Foliage die from Memory Box. The birdcage is a Marianne die and the flower was cut from the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die. I also used a die from Tim Holtz's Alterations Collection on the background at top left of the card. Pink trim was used on the bottom of the birdcage and crocheted ribbon was used for the bow.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

For The Girls

Hi and welcome to my blog. I hope you mothers out there had a wonderful Mother's Day. I had fun making this card using a Just For Fun stamp. Don't you just love this image? I stamped her on a Color Burst background and used an embossing folder for a frame. The butterfly was cut from an inked background using the Butterfly Quickutz die.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a super day!

Happy Mother's Day

Hi and welcome to my blog. I want to wish all you mothers out there a very Happy Mother's Day! Even if you are not a mother many of you have people in your life that you are a "mother" to. Yesterday a friend of mine and I went to an assisted living where we gave out pretty Mother's Day baskets that our Sunday School class had made. There were a couple of ladies who did not have children but they said they had nieces and nephews that they "mothered." Here is a picture of the baskets we made.

I also made this pull up Mother's day card. I love cards that have a function. The card pulls up to reveal a message inside. Here is the card closed.

                                                      Here is the card opened.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Again, have a wonderful and blessed Mother's Day!

Altered Dies #9

Hi Everyone! I have another altered die card to show you today. You might remember that I showed this card a few months ago. I entered it into some challenges then, but today I want to show you how I altered the die on it.

I started with this Cheery Lynn Lattice Valance die and cut off each end.

I added Sparkle N Sprinkle's  Blackened Bronze embossing powder to it and turned it upside down to make it look like the top of an iron gate!

I hope you enjoyed seeing how the gate was made using this valance die. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
