Patterned Paper #24

Hello and Merry Christmas! This year just flew by for me. I can't believe that this is my last patterned paper card for this year. For the New Year I will start a series on backgrounds. I have hundreds of backgrounds where I have played with many techniques. I need to use them up as well, so I hope you will check back on my blog in the new year and see all the many ways to make backgrounds for your cards.

I used strips of patterned papers to make the Christmas tree. This little penguin from Fiskars was colored with alcohol markers, fussy cut and pop dotted to the card. The background is also a piece of scrap patterned paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a very Merry Christmas! May God bless!

Hi and welcome to my blog. I can't believe that Christmas is almost here and that I only have one more card to make for my scrap patterned paper series! Here is a Christmas card that I made using die cut snowflakes cut from various patterned paper scraps.

The snowflake dies are from Spellbinders and the snowman is a Sparkle N Sprinkle stamp that I colored with alcohol markers and fussy cut. The saying is also from Sparkle N Sprinkle. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to make the "snow" at the top of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Peace & Joy

Hi and welcome to my blog! I hope that you all had a very nice Thanksgiving. We have had warm weather here for awhile, but today feels more like Christmas. I want to share a Christmas card I made using this cute little mouse on his snowboard. I miss seeing my boys snowboarding. They are now grown and we are empty nesters. This little mouse reminds me of those fun times.

I cut out the Tim Holtz Christmas tree,  applied Color Bursts around the cut out, then inlaid the tree into the cut out. I added clear glitter glue on the tree. The image was stamped and colored with alcohol markers. I used Diamond Dust glitter on the bottom of the card. The saying was computer generated. I created a banner for the saying and adhered it to the top of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope that you will be blessed with peace and joy this Christmas season!

Patterned Paper #22

Hi and Happy Thanksgiving! I can't believe Thanksgiving is almost here. I am showing another card today in my Patterned Paper series. I paper pieced the truck and the pumpkins were stamped on different patterned papers and fussy cut.

The background was made by using a border stamp (unknown) and stamping it with different colors across the card stock. The truck stamp is by Printworks and the pumpkin stamp is by DJ Inkers. I colored the mirrors and bumper using a silver paint pen. The saying is by Just For Fun Stamps.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Stockings

Hi and welcome to my blog. We have a wintry day here today so I made a Christmas card using this cute House Mouse stamp!

I stamped the image near the bottom of the card, used an exacto knife to cut across and in between the stockings. I used scissors to cut around the bottoms of the stockings. The image was colored using Tombow markers. The nails were colored with a silver metallic paint pen. I used word stickers for the saying. Blue card stock was adhered on the inside of the card.

This is how the card looks when it is opened.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Patterned Paper #21

Hi! I hope you are having a good day. I am back again with some cards I made using up those patterned paper scraps I have everywhere! I was a glutton for punishment using this leaf die to inlay all these tiny pieces! I love using this leaf die from Gina Marie, so once I started I was on a roll as you can see.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope this has given you some ideas on how you might use up those paper scraps. Have a lovely day!

Patterned Paper #20

Hi and welcome to my blog. Today I am showing another way to use up those paper scraps I have stored in many ziplock bags!

I used a fun new stamp from Technique Junkies that I recently bought at a stamp show. It was colored with alcohol markers. I added some enamel dot eyes to the cat. I cut one and a half inch squares and placed them at different angles across the top of the card. The saying was computer generated and cut out by using an unbranded dye.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

White Christmas

Hi and welcome to my blog. I have been making Christmas cards throughout the year so that I don't get in a panic to make cards right before the season. I want to show you a Christmas card I made using a House Mouse stamp that I have just used for the first time.

I used two embossing folders to add texture to the card. The white frame and the swirl tree dies are from Memory Box. I punched out two snowflakes and added clear Stickles glitter to them. The image was colored with alcohol markers, fussy cut and added to the card. I  made "marshmallows" by using small square pop dots and adding clear Stickles glitter to them too.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great day!

A Surprise Inside

Hi and welcome to my blog. I saw this on line a few months ago and I had to try it! I love cards that move or have a surprise inside. First of all here is the outside of the card. I used a bird image that I love that has now been retired. I used alcohol markers to add a little color to the image.

Here is the inside of the card.

These flowers are folded and an edge is cut off to form the flower. Then they are glued together and attached to the card. Here is a link to the instructions.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog. I am showing another card where I used my patterned paper scraps. With all these patterned paper cards I have made I still have not made a dent in my scrap papers! LOL! I love this time of year with all the wonderful Fall colors. I hope that the trees will be pretty around here this year.

I found this frame from Memory Box that I had already cut out. I punched the leaves from various patterned paper scraps. The saying is from Just For Fun Stamps and the owl stamps are from Darcie. The owls were colored using alcohol markers.

Thanks so much for popping in. I hope you have a fabulous day!

Water's Edge

Hi and welcome to my blog. Today I am showing a card I made using the Penny Black Cat's Tales stamp.

I love making background techniques and I have bags full of different backgrounds that I have made over the years. This is a very old background I made where I used shimmery inks and smooshed the glossy paper into the inks. I thought this background went very well with the cattails. Sequins were added for interest.

I made banners from strips of patterned papers, sponged Distress Gathered Twigs ink around each one and adhered them across the top of the card. I stamped the bird from Royal King, also using Distress inks, and cut it out using the Quickutz scallop circle die. The die was also sponged with the Distress ink and pop dotted to the card. Patterned Paper #16

Hi and welcome to my blog. We have come to the end of Summer and the kids are back in school here! Where did Summer go? It still feels like Summer so I used this cute penguin, wearing his wave swim trunks, on my card today. I would love a bite of his popsicle, LOL!

I found another way to use up my patterned paper scraps. I used a one inch circle punch to punch out circles from various patterned paper scraps. I made a border with them on the bottom half of the card. I first placed wide double sided tape at the bottom of the card and laid the circles on top. This made the placements of the circles much easier. The image and saying (unknown) were pop dotted to the card. The stitched circle die is from Gina Marie.

Hi and welcome to my blog. I am showing an easy way to use this Friends Are Flowers stamp from Just For Fun Stamps, without having to color a lot. Sometimes I do not want to spend the time to color every detail!

I used the smoosh technique to add Distress ink colors to the background. I stamped over the colors and brought out some of the flowers using my Spectrum Noir glitter markers. Sequins were added to the centers of the large flowers. The saying is from the Sentiments 3 unmounted sheet.

Dragonfly Dreams

Hello again! Today I am showing you a card I made using this beautiful Modern Dragonfly stamp from Just For Fun Stamps.

I stamped the dragonfly onto acetate and colored the back side with regular and pearl alcohol inks. The dragonfly was fussy cut and adhered to the background. The background was made by spritzing an embossing folder with water and placing it on watercolor paper. I lifted off the embossing folder and applied Color Bursts over the wet areas and let it dry. I made a banner for the saying that came from the Sentiments 1 unmounted sheet.

Patterened Paper #13

Welcome back to my patterned paper series! There are so many ways to use up those patterned paper scraps. I am showing a card where I made a sunburst with my papers.

I let the papers hang out from the card and then cut them off when I finished filling in all the spaces. This helped the edges be straight and even. I used the saying from a Stampendous words set and cut it out with the Gina Marie stitched circle die. I stamped one of Tim Holtz's Bird Crazy birds, colored it with a Zig marker, fussy cut it and adhered it to the card.

Thanks

Hi, I am showing you a thank you card I made using a fun background technique and some Just For Fun stamps!

I covered an acrylic stamping block with clear tape, first taping the bottom of the block horizontally and then vertically. I stamped the block onto a multicolored stamp pad and then stamped the block onto white card stock. I love the distressed plaid look it gave.

Next I stamped the Just For Fun bicycle stamp over the background and added the saying from the Sentiments 1 unmounted sheet, at the top. Black  enamel dots were added for interest.

We would love to see what you create for the Just For Fun challenge that is going on this month. The theme is "At The Shoreline." You might even win a gift certificate to the store!

Hi and welcome to my blog! We are having a fun challenge over at Just For Fun Stamps. We hope that you will join in. The theme is "At The Shoreline."

This is the card I made that follows the challenge theme.

I used a background I had made with Distress Oxide inks and placed it behind the Spellbinders small circle cutout. The cattails from Memory Box were added inside the circle. I stamped the Blue Heron stamp beside the circle and lightly colored with alcohol inks. The saying was stamped onto the blue background. The saying is from the Sentiments 3 unmounted sheet. I used Gina Marie's stitched rectangle die for a frame and pop dotted it on white card stock. Sequins were added for sparkle.

Hi and welcome to my blog. My card today was inspired by this wonderful picture over at Altenew.

I used the Vintage Flower Altenew stamp set and did a lot of
masking and fussy cutting to make my card. The saying is from the Altenew Build A Rose stamp set.

I used some watercolors to swipe greens and blues across the card. To make the pot I used the Spellbinders Birdcage 1 die! I altered it to make it look like a pot. A dotted swiss cuttlebug embossing folder was used in the upper corner to add interest.

Patterned Paper #12

Hi and welcome to my blog. I am showing another way to use  patterned papers on my card today. I have had such fun finding many ways to use up my scrap papers!

I used three sizes of punches and punched circles for the flowers. I used a distress tool to distress the edges of each circle. Each one was layered and then I used enamel dots for the centers of the flowers. I drew stems and free cut some leaves to add to them. The saying is from Stampendous. The background was an old background where I had used some border embossing folders on it. The edges of the background were sponged using Gathered Twigs Distress ink.

Lazy River

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog. I want to show you a card I made with this cute little House Mouse paddling down the Lazy River. With the summer heat this is a good way to cool off!

I found a background in my stash that I had made with Distress Oxide inks. It looks like a waterfall is behind the mouse. I stamped, colored and fussy cut the mouse and pop dotted him to the card. I used an exacto knife to cut around some of the flower petals so that I could pop them up. The frame is a Memory Box die. I added little paper flowers to the tree frame and used pink Liquid Pearls for the centers. The image was colored using alcohol markers.

The Voice Of The Sea

Hi Everyone! Today I am showing a card I made that follows the Just For Fun Stamps challenge theme for this month of using a stencil. You still have time to join in. We would love to see what you create!

I love playing with stencils. There are so many fun ways to use them. On this card I used blue and purple watercolor crayons and colored directly on the back of the stencil. I spritzed the colors with water and placed the colored side down on a piece of watercolor paper, then gently lifted it off. I stamped the saying at the bottom, then stamped the Stamptangle Seahorse on a piece of orange card stock, fussy cut it and adhered it to the card. Sequins were added for interest.

Patterned Paper #11

Hi Everyone! I am showing another patterend paper card today in my ongoing series. I showed a collage background card in April where I tore pieces of paper for the background. This time I used the paper scraps a little differently.

First I covered a 12 x 12 piece of card stock with my smaller scrap pieces and made a paper collage.

Next I cut this into card fronts. As you can see, I used some blue scraps as well on another 12 x 12 piece of card stock. I made 3 12 x 12 collages and believe me, I did not even make a dent in my scraps! I DO have a lot of card fronts now, though.

Here is one of the card fronts I chose to make the card below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I hope your day will be enjoyable!

Just For Fun June Challenge

Hello and welcome to my blog. As a design team member for Just For Fun Stamps I am hosting this month's challenge to use a stencil! I love working with stencils because there are so many ways to use them on a project. For example you can sponge through them, use stencil pastes, stamp through them, use them with the gelli plates and so much more! I would love to see what you do with them.

I must say when I use this '57 Chevy stamp I always think of my dad. I remember the long trips we took each summer in his '56 Chevy to go visit my grandparents. We also traveled Route 66 for awhile on the way!

I made a retro background by rotating a stencil. The picture below shows the original look of the stencil.

First I sponged on Wild Honey Distress ink.

Then I turned the stencil a one quarter turn and sponged using Aged Mahogany Distress ink.

This is such a fun way to use a stencil. You never know what look you will get. I then used the Spellbinders Labels 4 die to cut out a shape from this piece.

I stamped the Open Highway background stamp and cut and colored the Route 66 sign and pop dotted it to the card.

I also stamped the City Skyline stamp behind the shape.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope that you will join in this challenge and let us see all the creative ways you use a stencil!

Have a wonderful day!
