Technique Tuesday -- Glazed Pot

Wow! It is Technique Tuesday at Sparkle N Sprinkle already! This week really flew by. I was making a flowerpot card last week and I wanted the pot to look glazed. This isn't really a new technique but a little twist on an old one.

Supplies:

1. Ultra Thick clear embossing powder
2. Blue, brown, and pink Brilliance ink pads
3. embossing folder
4. heat gun
5. cream cardstock
6. Versa Mark ink pad
7. sponges

Fold cardstock and cut both sides of the cardstock to make a pot shape.  Pat the Versa mark ink pad all over the front of the pot and sprinkle on the Ultra Thick embossing powder. Heat with heat gun. I added UT four times to make it thick enough to press in the embossing folder.

Heat up the flowerpot one last time and quickly press an opened embossing folder into the hot UT. I had to press the embossing folder twice, doing one side of the pot, then heating the other side and pressing the embossing folder on that side to get an even press.

When this is dry -- it dries quickly -- sponge on the Brilliance inks starting with the lightest color first. Brilliance inks work well  on the UT because they do not rub off the slick surface. They also add some sparkle.  I used a border punch to add a rim to the pot, embossed it with UT and pop dotted it to the top of the pot.

Collecting Butterflies

Aren't you glad Spring is here? Right now we are having a violent thunderstorm , but I have been loving the warm weather and beautiful flowers lately. I was happy to make this "springy" card. At Joan's Gardens the challenge is to use butterflies and the color yellow. Isn't Tilda cute catching her butterflies? I am so glad you stopped by. Have a great weekend!

Technique Tuesday -- Reverse Stamping

Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Technique Tuesday once again!  The technique I am showing  is called reverse stamping. There are several ways to do this, but I am showing you one way today. This method works especially well if you want a reflection in water or a mirror.

Supplies:

1. Brilliance pink ink
2. acetate
3. aqua and darker blue alcohol inks
4. ink applicator
5. blending solution or 91% alcohol
6. glue pen
7. Waterscape glitter

Instructions:

Stamp your image near the bottom of your card using pink ink.  Now stamp your image on the piece of acetate using the pink ink. You need to use Brilliance or some other permanent ink.

Very important -- turn over the acetate, then drop a few drops of the aqua and darker blue alcohol inks on your applicator and spritz it with blending solution.  Pounce applicator over the piece of acetate. Use less of the darker ink. You want to be able to see your image well enough, so don't overdo the dark blue.

Turn the acetate over to the other side and use a glue pen to make some ripples and add glitter. Let dry.

Cut a puddle shape and adhere the "puddle" under the stamped image on the card. Now you have a reflection of the image! I find that using a tape runner to adhere the acetate is less noticeable.

Flower Power

Hello! I hope you have been having a good week. I have been doing some stamping and not much posting. I made a card for the Impression Obsession challenge -- Flower Power. The flower I used is the IO Peony C4486. It was fun to color with my new Distress markers. The flowers are so pretty here in our area already. I planted flowers in all my pots this week. Technique Tuesday -- Faux Patina

Hi and welcome to Technique Tuesday at Sparkle N Sprinkle! As promised I am showing the technique that Marie used on her beautiful cross card last week. You can see her card here!  This technique is called Faux Patina.

Supplies:

1. embossing folder
2. light ink color ( I used pink )
3. another light color ink ( I used a light green )
4. light brown ink
5. dark brown ink
6. sponges or sponge applicator
7. Versa Mark ink pad
8. embossing powder ( I used Antiquities EP266 )
9. cream cardstock
10. heat gun

Ink the front inside of your embossing folder with pink ink and run cream card stock through the folder.

Next take your sponge and sponge areas with the green ink, leaving some pink areas showing.

Now sponge on some light brown ink, just covering a few areas.

Lastly add the dark brown in the same manner as the other inks.

Swipe the Versa Mark ink lightly over the raised embossed areas, only covering some areas of the card. Then sprinkle on Antiqities embossing powder. I used a paint brush to brush off some of the embossing powder in areas that looked heavy with embossing powder. Now heat set the embossing powder. I just love the look of the Antiquities embossing powder. It is perfect for this technique!

I also tried silver embossing powder on another background and I really like this look too!

I know you will really enjoy doing this technique. It makes such a beautiful background! Instead of using the whole piece as a background, I used a die cut to cut out a shape for my background. Have fun! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

Hi! It has been a few days since I have posted. I hope you have enjoyed your weekend. We have had some beautiful Spring days. Speaking of Spring, I enjoyed making this card for the Basic Grey Spring colors challenge! I used paper from the Basic Grey Sweet Threads pack. Don't you just love this sweet Penny Black kitty stamp? He is one of my new purchases. At Top Tip Tuesday we are to share a tip about our card. My TIP is that the image was a little bit too big because I didn't want to cover up the big spots on the background, so I cut off some of the image. Also I thought the card needed a little something more, so I did some free hand doodle swirls. Happy Spring Everyone! Thanks for stopping by.
