Winter's Memory

Welcome to Sparkle N Sprinkle's March 1 Reveal

This month we are featuring five versatile stamp sets.
Two of the sets are perfect for Christmas.
Many of our customers said they promise themselves to make Christmas cards a little bit each month, all year long, but they fail to find the time. So this month's technique kit uses the pretty Red Cardinal drawn by Rosiland Solomon.

The Winter Cardinal stamp set is available by itself on line.
It is also included in Jazzy Jill's Technique Video for the month.

The first of the month also means a new challenge at SNS Creative Challenges where the theme is always
"Anything Goes with Loose Glitter, Embossing Powder and/or Flocking."

I made my card using the Crystal Medallion stamp set. This medallion looks like a beautiful snowflake.  I have titled my post Winter's Memory but some of us are still in winter! Boy, we have had a brutal one this year! I hope this card inspires you to start on some of your next year's Christmas cards. I have made a goal of making three Christmas cards a month. This sure helps when the crunch of Christmas activities start!

I stamped the medallion three times, added Blue Silver embossing powder and fussy cut different sized layers. I pop dotted them and added Fascination glitter to the edges. Rhinestones and a sparkly pearl were added as embellishments. For further instructions on how to make this card, please click here.

Five Winners (one for each new stamp set) will be selected by Random.org during the Designers Mystery Party. Winners will also get to choose one Glitter and one Embossing Powder to go with their new stamp set.

Sweet Birthday Wishes

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful day. I am always in need of birthday cards so I decided to make one today for some challenges. I just love this cute House Mouse image. The sentiment is computer generated and then I used one of my label dies to cut it out.

On the cupcake I used White Liquid Applique and added Stickles glitter to make it look like frosting.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope your day is good and blessed!

By The Sea

Hi Everyone!  I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to warmer weather and being outdoors. It has been very Spring like here the last few days, but it will be getting colder they say. I want to share a card I made that helps me to think about summer. I used the new  Sparkle N Sprinkle Mermaid Kisses stamp set 529. Isn't she lovely?  I did not have a large shell die, so I made one using a scallop circle die. I cut off 3 of the scallops at the bottom of the circle and scored in between the scallops to the bottom center of the die to make it look like a shell. I used a flesh colored marker to enhance the lines. Next I patted the "shell" all over with a Versa Mark ink pad, sprinkled on Sparkle embossing powder EP107 and heat set it. Blue Jewel glitter G1113 was used around the edges if the card, flowers and rock.

I use Sea Glass Mudd Puddles under the mermaid. I love using this product. The pieces are in a clear glue that you pat on with a pallet knife. I added in a few small seashells with them to add more interest. For further instructions on how to make this card, please click here.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope your day is a good one!

Tissue Paper and Pearl Ex Powders

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. It is sunny and warm here today and it is putting me in the Spring spirit! I want to show a flower card I made recently for a Two Peas Winterfest challenge. I love techniques so I really enjoyed doing it on this card.

Squirt out some school glue onto a craft sheet and brush the glue onto a piece of dark card stock. I used purple card stock. Crumble up a piece of white tissue paper, uncrumple, and lay it over the glue. You can smooth the tissue paper some with your brush (I used a foam brush so that the tissue paper would not tear too easily) or you can leave it more crumpled if you want more texture. That is what I did on my piece. I also brushed on more glue over the top of the tissue paper so that the Pear Ex powders would adhere to it better.

I used 3 colors of Pearl Ex powders and flicked them over the tissue paper with a small paint brush. I used teal, white and gold colors. Let this dry and now you have a beautiful shimmery and textured background!

It was fun using some new stamps I purchased recently. The flowers were stamped using TH2Os. I used gold embossing powder around the die edges.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Floral Frame

Hi Everyone! Here is a another Spring card I made today. We have about 6 inches of snow and it is now sleeting! This is a major storm for us in the South. I am looking forward to Spring! I have been playing with Winterfest challenges over at Two peas in a Bucket. It has been a lot of fun! This is the card I made for the Five in One challenge where we are to use 5 different stamps on our card. I have been wanting to play with my Tapestry stamps lately and this was the perfect challenge to use them.  My TIP is if you want to have different colors on your stamp, use different colors of markers where you want color and then huff on your stamp to moisten a bit and stamp. Now you have the colors where you want them.

Here  you can see the stitching around the oval. I used magenta metallic thread. This is not my favorite thing to do, but I am glad I did.

I used an embossing folder and then popped the oval piece on top and added the image in the middle.

Spring Is Coming!

Hi Everyone!  I want to show you a Spring card I made recently with the new Spunky stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle called Spunky & Bug 523. Yes, Spring is around the corner even though it may not feel like it! We are gearing up for a snowstorm here! I am looking forward to Spring; how about you? I saw this layout awhile back and knew I had to use it for this card. I made the "flower" card by using a Spellbinders small circle die for the center and using a large circle punch for the "petals."

Here is a close up of the butterfly that I cut from patterned paper using a die.

I heat embossed the saying and ladybugs using Black embossing powder EP 170. Pink Spirit Sparkle N Soft SS108 was used on Spunky's body.

I have enjoyed making cards using Spunky. He is such a cutie!  Be looking for another cute Spunky that will be revealed March 1st!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

12 Tags of 2014 -- February

Hi Everyone!

I cannot believe it is February already! Valentine's Day will be here before we know it. I want to share the Valentine tag I made for Tim Holtz's Tags of 2014 challenge for the month of February. I love using the chalkboard technique that you see with the word " love." I had just purchased the new Doily stencil of the Tim Holtz Collection and had fun using it for my background!

Here is a close up of the chalkboard technique. You can see Tim's demo here.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have a terrific day!
