Christmas Fawn

Hi and welcome to my blog. Are you ready for Christmas? I actually have all my Christmas shopping done and I can now do a little creating. I made a Christmas card using this sweet stamp from the Artful Stamper. At Cropstop, their challenge is to use any products they sell at their store. I used the Spellbinders Labels 39 Decorative Accents die for the red frame. The image was colored using Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. It was cut out using Spellbinders Labels 4 die. The die was edged using a silver paint pen. I added flowers, cord, punched ferns and a chipboard snowflake as embellishments. Clear Stickles glitter was added to the sowflakes and snow. Silver pearls were also added for accent.

Bits and Bobs #16

Hi! It is time for another bits and bobs card! I have a huge bag of rub ons that I have not used in ages. I pulled them out and while I had them out I made three cards with them. Rub ons are a great way to add flair to your card. On the first card I started with two different sheets of rub ons, but the sheet on the left must have been too old and it would not transfer. I wanted to use the music script. So I ended up using several of the rub ons on the sheet at the right.

The rub ons on this card are the swirls and two small butterflies at the top. After applying the rub ons I ran the card through an embossing folder. I found an oval piece of painted chipboard in my stash and stamped an old butterfly stamp on it. I added flowers and a ribbon scrap to make the bow. I don't think I have ever made a green and red card except for a Christmas card! This is why I like to make bits and bobs cards because you really don't go in with a plan and just try to match things as you go along, pulling things from your stash. You never really know how a card will turn out.

I have a hard time making simple cards because my thought is the "more the better!" Lol!  But I think this card came together pretty well. The flowers are rub ons. I found the cat in my image stash that I had already stamped on orange paper, so I pop dotted him to the card. Then I stamped a very old saying I have had for years.

Here is my last card. The circles are rub ons. I also found the typewriter in my image stash. I fussy cut it and pop dotted it on the card. Kids these days probably don't even know what a typewriter is. I got a portable one when I was in high school and I took it with me to college and used it a lot! Those were the days. Really old school!

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2016 - Septmeber

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my blog. I want to show you a tag I made for Tim Holtz's challenge this month. We were to start with a patina background. I used two metallic colors of acrylic paint - gold and purple, and some regular pink. I also spritzed water on them that had some White Glimmer Mist in it to give the whole piece some shine.

We were to use the alcohol resist technique here, and I used the trees stamp from Inkadinkado. I also had fun playing with the alcohol inks a bit at the top and bottom of the tag. I must say I really like using the alcohol inks on Yupo paper!

Go For The Gold

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. I want to share a card I made using a product that I have not used in a long time, thanks to inspiration on Sandy Allnock's blog! She is sharing free classes for a week and showing some wonderful techniques and products! For this card I got my inspiration from class day 2.

I love Fall and all its beautiful colors. I really had fun making this card and being creative with the leaves. I cut the leaves out of thin cardboard using dies and brushed crackle paint over them. After the paint dried and crackled, I painted them with a gold pigment powder by adding water to the powder. I have had this product for years and I love how it shines. I also painted the gold around the edges of the second layer of card stock to match the leaves.

I made the background for the card by patting Distress inks on my craft pad spritzing them with water and swiping the card stock through them. I added interest by stamping a script background, wire and dots to it.

Oldies Technique #17 -- Coloring With Embossing Powders

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. It is officially Fall so I want to show you a neat Oldies technique that looks beautiful with leaf stamps. We will be "coloring" with embossing powders.

Supplies you will need:

several colors of embossing powders ( I used powders with glitter in them )

watermark ink ( I used Versa Mark ink )

anti-static bag

paper to catch embossing powders

heat tool

Rub the anti-static bag over the card stock so that the embossing powders do not stick where you do not want it. Ink your stamp with Versa Mark ink and stamp onto the card stock.

Here is the fun part. Take pinches of the powders and sprinkle over the leaves one color at a time. It does not matter if you overlap. The overlapping makes the colors blend into each other.

Take the heat tool and melt the powders. I love how the colors just pop!

Quiet Garden

Hi Everyone! I hope you had a good Labor Day weekend. I want to show you a tag I made using alcohol inks, a stencil and some acetate.

I used glossy card stock, put various purple and blue alcohol inks along with silver on my craft mat. I swiped the card stock through the ink for my background. I laid the leaf stencil over the background and used translucent stencil paste. After it dried I outlined the leaves with a white marker.

It was fun using my new dragonfly stamp from Our Daily Bread. The dragonflies were stamped on acetate and glittered on the back of the wings. I fussy cut them to add to the tag.

Blessed Christmas

Hi Everyone! I hope you are where you need to be for Christmas if you have traveled somewhere or staying home and having guests. Here is one of many ornaments I made for this Christmas. This ornament tells the full story of Christmas. Not only did Jesus come to earth in human form ..........

His purpose was to one day die for our sins that we might live an abundant life in Him on earth and in heaven

one day.

Hi Everyone! It is a beautiful, cool Fall day here today. A perfect day to show you the Halloween tag I made for Tim Holt's October tag challenge!  I bought these cute little birds awhile back and had not found the perfect time to use them until now. I had so much fun making this tag. You can view Tim's demo here.

For the background I used Tim Holtz's spider web mask and spread white matte paste over it to give dimension. I then sprayed over it using yellow, orange and purple colors. 

The letters were aqua glittered so I altered them by using an orange Sharpie marker to color over them.

Flowers Say Hello

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. I want to share a card I made using lots of flowers and distressed layers -- my favorite things in making a card! My inspiration came from this photo over on the Sizzix blog.





I love the magenta, pink and green combination. I used a Sizzix embossing folder on the background paper and highlighted the raised areas with green ink.

I used the Tim Holtz Alteration flowers dies by Sizzix to make my flowers. I added Champagne glitter, from Sparkle N Sprinkle, to the edges of the petals. The leaves are also from the leaves Sizzix die. I edged them with brown ink to make them stand out more.

I just bought this gorgeous Ornate Frame by Sizzix and was so happy to be able to use it right away! I added Copper Flame embossing powder to it by Sparkle N Sprinkle. I love the look it gives. I also added an acetate window over the saying to add a shiny look.

I had a fun time making this card! I am entering this card into the Sizzix  and Joan's Touch challenges.

Mixed Media

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. I want to share a card I made using mixed media. This is always fun for me. At Joan's Touch this week we are to use stencils, lots of colors of ink and textures. My good enabler friend ( I seem to have several of those! ) showed me her Crayola air brush system and let me play with it. Well, of course I had to get one for myself! LOL! I used it doing the background. I used a fern and dot stencils with green and brown markers on yellow card stock.

To make the glittery flowers I used a stencil with white stencil paste. I colored over the flowers, but I was not liking the look, so I ended up using the wonderful velvet glitters from Sparkle N Sprinkle. I made the blue flower by using Tim Holtz's Tattered Flowers die, cut from cardboard. I inked the flower by rubbing on Inka Gold inks.

The bluebird is a chipboard piece I had and I also rubbed Inka Gold colors on it.  I enjoyed using the chipboard and I ought to use it more often!

12 Tags of 2014 -- May

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. It is warm and beautiful here. I am glad Spring has sprung and that it is staying warm. I want to share a tag I made for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2014 - May challenge. The theme is using trinkets. I have all kinds of charms and trinkets to choose from, so I chose to use some Spring ones. You can see Tim's tag here.

I cut chipboard pieces, added patterned papers to them and sponged Vintage Photo ink around the edges. It was fun picking out the different trinkets to use.
