Altered Dies #2

Hi Everyone and welcome to altered dies #2. I have altered 2 dies today to make a sleigh. It looks like a lot of us might need a sleigh this week! LOL!

I started with Spellbinders Labels 8 and cut it out using red card stock.

I then used scissors to cut the label in half. This is the body of the sleigh.

I took the Spellbinders Floral Flourish die and cut 2 from silver card stock.

Next I cut off the left swirl on each one to make the runners. I also cut a small strip from the silver card stock to attach to the runners. Here is the finished sleigh!

Here is a close up of the card that shows the sparkle of the glitter. I used Starfire glitter from Sparkle N Sprinkle. White Applique was used on Woofie's hat and some of the snow.

For my card I chose to use the sweet Christmas Doves stamp set. I used the digital format. What is so nice about digitals is that you can make the images any size to fit your project. I have had this embossing folder lying around for some time now with an idea in mind and finally I used it for this card. I used Mirror Silver card stock and swiped the raised areas with Saddle Brown Staz On ink.

Here is the card opened. For the background I used Sticker Paper, peeled off the top layer and added Gypsy Red velvet glitter GM2005 on it. I love the soft velvety look of this glitter.

On the doves I patted Versa Mark ink over them and added Sparkle embossing powder EP107.

Spring Has Sprung

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. Well, Spring has sprung here in our area. The trees and azaleas are beautiful! I want to share a tag I made for Tim Holtz's tag challenge for the month of April. I had fun using the lattice cut from tag board. I used a brand new mixed media embossing powder from Sparkle N Sprinkle called Copper Flame and added in some Sparkle N Sprinkle Candlelight and Cerulean Star embossing powder with it. I love how the lattice turned out. Here is a close up of it. I love the shimmer and shine.

I also used some washi tape with birds on a wire that I recently received from a good friend of mine. She knows I love birds. Thank you so much, Kim! It went perfectly with this tag. Speaking of birds, I used my favorite bird stamp. He looks so chirpy for Spring!

Tissue Paper and Pearl Ex Powders

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. It is sunny and warm here today and it is putting me in the Spring spirit! I want to show a flower card I made recently for a Two Peas Winterfest challenge. I love techniques so I really enjoyed doing it on this card.

Squirt out some school glue onto a craft sheet and brush the glue onto a piece of dark card stock. I used purple card stock. Crumble up a piece of white tissue paper, uncrumple, and lay it over the glue. You can smooth the tissue paper some with your brush (I used a foam brush so that the tissue paper would not tear too easily) or you can leave it more crumpled if you want more texture. That is what I did on my piece. I also brushed on more glue over the top of the tissue paper so that the Pear Ex powders would adhere to it better.

I used 3 colors of Pearl Ex powders and flicked them over the tissue paper with a small paint brush. I used teal, white and gold colors. Let this dry and now you have a beautiful shimmery and textured background!

It was fun using some new stamps I purchased recently. The flowers were stamped using TH2Os. I used gold embossing powder around the die edges.

In The Garden

Hi Everyone! I hope you are having a good day. I want to share a card I made using a recent stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle -- Geraniums 519. I love this pretty stamp set. This set is great to use for so many occasions. I have not had this Spellbinders Gilded gate 2 die for long and I was happy to use it because it was perfect to go with this set.

I used sticker paper on card stock and added Cloud Nine velvet glitter GM2002 to it. I then ran it through an embossing folder to add texture to the background.  I cut the gate using Mirror Gold card stock.

I love the saying inside.

Owl Family

Hi Everyone! I hope you are enjoying Fall. I sure am. Since Halloween is right around the corner, I want to share a card I made with this cute little Sparkle N Sprinkle owl family from the Owlette stamp set 511 (not the Adam's Family)! LOL! I wanted to make my card spooky - cute for Halloween. I had a background already made that I loved. I used black glossy card stock and rubbed rust, purple and silver Mica Gloss over it. I just loved the spooky aura it created.  To add some more pizzazz I patted Versa Mark ink over the background and sprinkled on Silver Detail EP257 and Log Cabin EP397 embossing powders and heat set them from underneath so that the embossing powders would not blow off. Peruvian Lily velvet glitter GM2014 was used to highlight the tree and owls. Sparkle N Sprinkle June Challenge

Hi Everyone! I hope you are enjoying your day. It is time for another Sparkle N Sprinkle challenge! This month it is a sketch. You can see it when you scroll down. I had fun using a new stamp set called Garden Goddess. The sentiment is from another new set called Spring Florals. I stamped the image on silver mirror card stock and paper pieced it on the image so it would look like a metal watering can. It is hard to see on the full card so I showed a close up of the image. I pop dotted the bird, then I used a Wobble to adhere the image onto the card and now it has movement too! I glittered the pink flowers on the patterned paper and the ones in the can to give the card some shimmer. The glitters used were Lemonade and Bubblegum.

Technique Tuesday -- Glitzy Glue

Wow! Technique Tuesday came around fast at Sparkle N Sprinkle! I hope you had a good weekend. I named this technique Glitzy Glue because you use a lot of glue and as you can see it is very glitzy. I loved this technique and ended up making a lot of backgrounds with it.

Supplies needed:

1. Brushable Glue 540
2. water spritzer
3. stipple brush
4. black glossy card stock
5. 3 colors of pigment powder paints
6. glitter ( I used Autumn Medley G1013 )
7. heat tool
8. plastic or metal plate or pan for glue
9. spray sealer

Squeeze about a quarter size puddle of glue onto plate and spritz it with water to make it soupier.

Take the stipple brush and start pouncing the glue all over the glossy black card stock.

Add your first color of pigment powder paint over the glue. I poured it straight from the bottle, tapping gently. Be careful not to pour out a bunch in one spot. You may want to dip a paintbrush into the powder and flick off the powder.

Do this with the other 2 colors of powder paints.

I wanted to add a little more sparkle so I sprinkled on some glitter at the end.

Now this is the tricky part! WARNING! Make sure you heat this piece from the bottom! My friend, Bren, and I found out the hard way. We had powder flying everywhere! LOL! Heat this from the bottom using your heat tool and heat until you see the glue bubble. Then start heating from the top. There will still be some powder flying, but not too much. You can see that the glue gives a neat shimmery texture with the powder paints. Of course the glitter added that special touch! You will definitely have to use a spray sealer to seal your work.
