Sparkle N Sprinkle July Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone! I hope you will join us for the Sparkle N Sprinkle sketch challenge this month. The challenge is "Anything but a Card." I was rummaging through some of my stuff and came across some coffee bags that someone had given me years ago. I decided to decorate the front and use this for a gift bag. It is lined with plastic, so it would be great to give specialty coffees or teas in it or anything else. I have had fun playing with rub ons lately, so I have used them on this project. They are the swirl, leaves and red flower. I love birds, so I used my favorite stamp set called Bird Song. The Music Scrap stamp goes perfect with the birds. The butterfly is a silver charm that I colored using permanent markers. I used Mountain Mint velvet glitter on the eggs in the nest.

Sister-in-Law

Hi Everyone! I hope you are enjoying your day. I have a card I want to show you using a new set from Sparkle N Sprinkle called Bouquet. I love that the set has sayings for many family members that you do not normally see. I do not have a sister. My sister-in-law is wonderful and is like a sister to me! It was fun making this card with her in mind! The glitter is also courtesy of Sparkle N Sprinkle, called Lemonade.

Technique Tuesday -- Emboss and Cut

Welcome back to Sparkle N Sprinkle's Technique Tuesday. I want to show you a neat technique that will help you use up those scrap papers you have lying around. I hope you will sit back and take a look and then try this out on one of your projects!

Supplies needed:

1. exacto knife
2. cutting pad
3. bright scraps of paper
4. regular tape
5. embossing folder
6. embossing machine
7. white card stock

Run the white card stock through the embossing folder using the embossing machine.

Start cutting out areas from the embossed card using an exacto knife.

Here is the card after I finished cutting out the areas I wanted.

You may do the next step different ways. On this piece I cut out areas of bright patterned paper and taped them on the back. The back looks messy but of course it will be covered up.

Turn the card over and this is what it looks like on the front!

You can use one piece of patterned paper behind the card instead of cutting up patterned paper. It just depends on the look you want. I used one piece of patterned paper behind this card.

On this card I used glitter in the cut areas! I backed the embossed black card stock with sticker paper and added glitter.

Summertime

Hi and welcome to my blog. What a fun image for summertime! Today is the first day of summer and it sure feels like it. It is time to find something to cool us off. A big slice of juicy watermelon sounds like a good way to do that! I had fun making this card today for a few challenges. The patterned paper is Basic Grey Sweet Threads -- Mix & Match. For the flower I started with a flat flower charm and used a technique that I have not used in a long time. I colored the charm using Sharpie markers. I then tapped Versa Mark ink over it and sprinkled on Sparkle embossing powder courtesy of  Sparkle N Sprinkle. I used three layers of the embossing powder. I love how sparkly the flower turned out!

Technique Tuesday -- Stamping With a Paper Towel

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Technique Tuesday. It is time for vacations and hitting the beach! I made a card using the beautiful Serena Mermaid. The technique I used does great for a water background. I hope you will join me in making some for yourself.

Supplies needed:

1.  paper towel with a pattern
2.  large multi-colored ink pad 
3.  brayer
4. Penboss
5. Sparkle embossing powder
6. heat tool

Take the paper towel and fold it several times. I folded it to fit my 4 1/4"   x  5 1/2"  card.

Now place the folded paper towel on top of the large multi-colored ink pad and brayer over the paper towel a few times.

The paper towel will look like this when finished. It needs to be pretty saturated with ink. 

This time take white card stock and lay it on top of the inked side of the paper towel. Brayer the top several times.

Here is what the background looks like when you are finished.

When I saw this pattern, I wanted to make an underwater scene,  so I used the Penboss , traced the swirl print with it,  added Sparkle embossing powder and heat set it.   Now my "water" looks shimmery.

Rose Garden

Hi Everyone. I hope you have had a good week so far. I received a new set of stamps from Sparkle N Sprinkle called Bouquet. I have been playing with it some today and here is a card I made with it. I stamped the roses and embossed them with Antiquities embossing powder. Then I colored them with copic markers, fussy cut them, layered and pop dotted them in the corner. I really like the saying also. Fantasy Gold glitter was used around the edges of the card. I used Spellbinders Floral Flourishes behind the roses. The lattice die is by Cheery Lynn Designs. This card is being entered into Joan's Gardens challenge -- Anything Goes. They also want us to make a card for someone special. God has blessed me with many wonderful friends, so this card is made with them in mind! Thanks for stopping by. I hope your day is a good one!

Technique Tuesday -- Joseph's Coat With Patterned Paper

Hi and welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Technique Tuesday! Father's Day is right around the corner, so I thought I would show you a Father's Day card I made using a fun technique called Joseph's Coat With Patterned Paper.

Supplies needed:

1. patterned paper
2. embossing folder
3. Versa Mark ink pad 99702
4. Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad 99604
5. Clear embossing powder EP120
6. Sparkle embossing powder EP107
7. brayer
8. heat tool
9. paper towel
10. sponge

Run the patterned paper through the embossing folder.

I like this just the way it is but there is more! LOL!

Use Versa Mark ink and brayer it over the embossed patterned paper.

Sprinkle on clear embossing powder, shake off the excess and heat with a heat tool.

Sponge black ink all over the embossed patterned paper.

Take a paper towel and rub it over the background to get any excess ink off the embossed areas.

I also tried a background using Sparkle embossing powder. This powder is clear with glitter.  I rubbed on a burgundy color over top this time to get a different look.

Technique Tuesday -- Frilly Flowers

Hi All! It is time again for Technique Tuesday at Sparkle N Sprinkle!  When I saw these flowers I had to know how to make them. They look so real! I hope you will enjoy learning to make these as much as I did.

Supplies needed:

1. white coffee filters
2. Distress stains
3. brads
4. flower dies
5. heat tool

Use about 8 coffee filters and open them up flat. Use a flower die to cut out flowers from the filters. Eight layers went through my cuttlebug just fine. Use different sizes of flower dies using eight layers for each size. Poke a brad in the middle to hold the flower together.

Take the color of stain you want and start pouncing it onto the flower. The stain soaks through  all the layers pretty well. You can turn the flower over on the back side and pounce on some more stain to cover the layers better.  I also took a darker purple and pounced the edges of the flower.  I spritzed the flower some with water to blend the colors.

You can let the flower air dry or step up the drying time by heating it with your heat tool.

Now comes the patience part! LOL! Take each layer and pull it up to the middle of the flower and scrunch it tight. Keep doing this until all layers are scrunched.

I just love how frilly the flower is! As you can see I used 2 different sizes of flowers on my card.  Thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
