Technique Tuesday -- Coloring on Glitter

I hope you had a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend. It is time for Technique Tuesday at Sparkle N Sprinkle  once again! The technique I want to show today is "coloring on glitter." This is such a beautiful and sparkly technique. I hope you enjoy trying it.

Supplies needed:
  1. wide double stick tape
  2. Waterscape glitter G1108
  3. Spectrum or Copic markers
  4. Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad 99604
  5. white cardstock
Instructions:

For the large butterfly, cut a square of double sided tape and place it on white cardstock.

Peel off the top seal and sprinkle on glitter. Make sure to rub the glitter real well with your fingers. This burnishes it and gets off any excess glitter.

Now stamp the butterfly using Memento ink. This is the best ink to use when coloring with Copics.

Start coloring the image using Spectrum or Copics. I colored lightly since they are juicy. I was able to blend them like I do when I color normally.

Cut out the butterfly to use later on the card. Now take a longer piece of the wide tape, peal off the top seal and glitter as before.  Stamp the flower and butterflies and color.

Now assemble the card!

You can also use outline stickers. Adhere the sticker to the glittered tape and color it in with the markers. Here is a sample.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Happy Memorial Day

Hi Everyone,

I want to wish all of you a wonderful Memorial Day and weekend. I want to thank all of the military people who are serving to keep our country free. God bless you. I also thank those who have lost their lives to keep us free. May we never forget what it has cost them.

Stay safe as you celebrate all of these brave people.

12 Tags of 2012 -- May

Hi Folks! I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend! I have been stamping and I made a tag for Tim Holtz's May tag challenge. Click here to see his wonderful tutorial and challenge. I don't have a melting pot for the UT, so I smushed my flowers in a Versa Mark ink pad and sprinkled UT on the them and heated it with a heat gun. I did this 3 times and it worked pretty well. All the sewing stamps on the background and the spool on the bow are from the Sparkle N Sprinkle Sew Fabulous stamp set 461. The Little Black Dress stamp is from Stampabilities. This was a fun challenge. I really enjoyed working on this project. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful holiday!

Summer on the Farm

Hi! It is a beautiful day here today. I hope you are enjoying yours. I am submitting this card once again in the Impression Obsession challenge. There was a problem with Linksy last week, so Shirley has been so nice to let me enter it again. I used this stamp from Impression Obsession -- Flower Wheelbarrow Scene k1311 . I made the flower using 3 flower punches that I layered together. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Color Challenge

Hi Everyone! It is a beautiful day here today. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I am always needing birthday cards, so I made one yesterday for a few challenges. For the Magnolicious challenge the colors are pink, green and light yellow. Wonderful colors for summer! I used Basic Grey papers, Basics Bulletin and Sweet Threads Lacy Organic. I colored with Spectrum markers. The patterned paper was roughed using a distress tool and then I edged the paper with Primrose ink. I made the flower by tearing the petals and leaves, edging the petals with Primrose ink and layering the petals in a circular pattern. I have shown some pictures below on how I made the flower. Have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

Sparkle N Sprinkle New Releases

Sparkle N Sprinkle has just released some wonderful new stamp sets! You can see them by clicking here. I had fun making cards with two of the sets. On the first two cards I used stamps from the Sew Fabulous set.  For you sewers out there, you will love this set for sure!

For this card I also followed the sketch challenge for this month. It is not too late to join the challenge to be able to win a stamp set of your choice!

I used the Zendoodle  Rainbow Stampet set on my last card.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these new sets. Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day!

Technique Tuesday -- Hand Sanitizer

Today for the Sparkle N Sprinkle technique Tuesday I am showing how to use hand sanitizer to make a fun "water" scene on a card.  These type of cards are fun for all ages!  I hope you have fun with this today.

Supplies:
  1. hand sanitizer or hair gel
  2. small zip lock bag
  3. glitter or mica chips
  4. aqua or light blue alcohol ink or re-inker
  5. die cut for window -- I used an oval Nestibilities die
  6. white cardstock
  7. patterned paper
  8. contrasting cardstock
Take the small bag and squirt about a third of a travel size bottle of hand sanitizer into it and seal. You can also use hair gel.

Some hand sanitizers and hair gels come in colors, but I only had clear so I added a few drops of aqua alcohol ink. I wanted the color to be light so that my image would show up better.  I also added some blue/purple mica chips to it . Glitter would work well too.

On white cardstock stamp your image in the middle and color. Then adhere the bag over the image using Tear-ific Tape.

Adhere patterned paper onto white cardstock and cut window using the die.

Using the oval dies, cut a frame from the contrasting color cardstock to place around the window.

Pop dot this layer over the image and embellish. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the technique today. Please stop by next week for a glittery technique!

Technique Tuesday -- Crayon Resist and More

Welcome back to the Sparkle N Sprinkle Technique Tuesday again! I have a stamping friend who uses crayons quite a bit to color stamp images. I am amazed at how well the images look.  After seeing these images I decided I would try some myself and I actually like the look. So today we are going back to our childhood and color with crayons!

I started coloring the image first with a white crayon to give it a soft palette  so that the colors would blend a little better.  Then I started with my lighter colors first on top of the white.

I then went over the lighter colors with my darker colors to shade some areas.

After I was finished shading with the darker crayons, I went over all of it again with the white crayon to blend it some more.  Here is the finished image.

I think it turned out quite well!  Now on to the crayon resist.
Supplies:
  1. brayer
  2. multi-colored ink pad
  3. any color of crayon
  4. dragonfly stamp
  5. white glossy cardstock
  6. permanent black ink pad
Stamp dragonfly several times on the glossy cardstock using permanent black ink.

Take any color crayon and color in and outline some areas of the dragonflies.

Brayer over the piece of glossy cardstock using a multi-colored ink pad.  I used a pad that had variations of blues and purples.

Now wipe off any wax left from the crayon.

So, break out those crayons or borrow from your kids or grand kids and give this a try! LOL! Have fun!

Joan's Gardens Challenge

I made this card for the Joan's Garden challenge. The theme is vintage using tan and olive with a pop of color and feathers. I haven't used this vintage lady in a long time, so it was nice using this stamp again. Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend.

Kaleidoscope of Color

I really enjoyed making this card for the Simon Says challenge -- Kaleidoscope of Color. I had forgotten about this technique until reminded about it last week. What a fun way to have a color splash on your card. I dropped a few drops of alcohol inks on glossy cardstock and used the compressed air in a can and gave it a few squirts to move the colors around. You can see where the colors have fanned out. This is such an easy technique that gives a pop to your card! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
